Overnight stop at Caen for early ferry to UK

All, what is the latest recommendation?  For the last few years we have stopped at Les Hautes Coutures, but this has become increasingly aimed at the French youth and is now no longer a pleasure to stay at.  We only stop because we enjoy visiting Pegasus
Bridge every year,having a chat with Madame Gondree and a meal at Les 3 Planeurs and the site is only 10mins from the port.  What do others do???
