Mobile charges changeing

Its a reminder that the Mobile charges are changiing from end of April 2016, its an interim reduction until 2017 when the full reduction will take place (if we are still in the EU). Here's that reduction for Vodaphone monthly accounts.

Makes it quite affordable.

    Thats a substantual reduction in just one year. I didn't think call and text rates were particularly bad before but data has always been expensive so it will be interesting to see how other networks react in terms of data roaming packages. We might only
    be able to enjoy it for two monthsWink

    My contract is with TalkTalk and their charges are broadly similar to those above.  A welcome reduction, but given that my contract is only £7.70 per month, and my biggest bill (even using the phone in France) was only £12.00, I think my saving will probably buy me an extra cup of coffee.  As Deleted User User says, though, still welcome! 

    It's a good job we don't stay with relatives in Guernsey any more (my cousin used to live there) as calls from there are a massive 44p per minute (as is Jersey, and the Isle of Man!!!!)

    I think its the data aspect of it that will be most welcome. The majority, I appreciate not all, of modern phones work better if they have a data connection and it has been the previous cost of data that has been a real discouragement. Whilst we use our
    phones for calls and mainly texts the pre 2016 reductions in prices have not been too bad for the the amount of calls and text we use. Another aspect of the lower data prices is the abilty to use a lot of phones as WiFi point which previously has been a very
    expensive past time.

    It is a significant reduction, however the data rate at £43 per gigabyte is still astronomical. In this country I get 5 gig included in my phone package, and if I use my 3 MiFi it works out a £5 a gig. So I would say they are still exploiting those who forget
    to shut off data before they leave the country.

    3 is the way to go. I have a 3 sim in my mifi. £50 for 12gb to use anytime in the calendar year from when I registered it. Covers the parts of Europe that I visit, plus USA (where I am now)and Australia. Compare that to the charges stated above, or EE's
    £3 per day for 100mb.

    I agree with nutsy, 3 is the best way to go, certainly for data. The big bonus is that there are NO roaming charges in many European countries as long as you stay within your contract limits. Last year we found EE to be extortionate as data is charged by
    the day and for a lot of the time, I could get no signal anyway.

    I also agree that 3 offers a really good deal and is our preferred way of using the phone/ data while in Europe.
