Hello people

We are currently on the marseillan Plage area.

Weather here at the moment very windy our plan before leaving home was bavaria although the weather put paid to that

So chased the sun.

Quite dissapointment with this area

So hoping the vast knowledge we enjoy on ct .

Looking at going north now via lyon and maybe alsace region

We are a couplemid 50s for me and ot 50 this year

We like our wine

Cycling on  nice level terrain

Walking and sites close to pretty villages, stunning views and maybe a river or lake close by.

Impossible ?

Let's see.

Oh we are armed with an acsi card .

Be nice people

Pranged back of van on fence on site so got that to sort when home.

Sorry about your van and that you are disappointed with that stretch of coast, but not surprised at that.

But with the weather as unsettled as it is I suggest you stay in the south  - perhaps  the Arles / Avignon / St Remy de Provence / Apt area - and don't be a slave to the ACSI book.  There are good sites are outside that scheme.  Take care.

Follow the route of the Canal du Midi from Marseille back towards Bordeaux? Good wine and nice level towpaths for cycling through gorgeous countryside, and the weather's getting better day by day.

We quite like Marseillan Plage as its not as hectic as many places on the Med. What site are you on? We have stayed at Camping Robinson a couple of times.

Perhaps a bit left field but how about Camping Municipal de Montech  which is not quite in the direction you were thinking but being on the canal does allow for level cycling.

Sorry you are not finding your perfect bit of France - but there are better places than Marseillan Plage!. I would suggets heading east - try St Remy de Provence ( camping Mas de Nicolas is particularly nice) then maybe head up to Vasion La Romaine then
up towards the Alps. I think that might give you more of the "real " France!

We are on Mediterranean beach club

They seem own most of this little corner as they also have 2 other sites and we can use facilities on all 3

Ah, the winds in that area, we used to live near Beziers! Try going into Languedoc or towards the Spanish border or into N Spain. And yes, follow the Canal du Midi.  It should warm up very soon.

hi. We stayed on a campsite at marseillan Plage  about 4 years ago. I didn't like the resort (each to his own) but cycling was lovely. A word of warning though. We padlocked our 2 bikes on the actual beach side to the fencing, thinking they would be more
secure than with all the other bikes on the roadside. How wrong we were! It was about 50 yards to the sea edge and we kept checking our bikes were within sight. Suddenly, a French woman who couldn't speak English shouted and pointed to our bikes, or the place
where we'd padlocked them and they were no longer there. It seems that our bikes were stolen by professional gangs that come down from Lyons to steal bikes. They cut through the chains and quickly load them into waiting transit vans before driving off. The
police told us it was a big problem in the area. We never saw them again..... be warned !!
