12v cigarette lighter sockets not working

As title, the 3 12v 6 amp cigarette lighter type plug sockets in our 2013 Lunar Lexon don't work.  Everything else seems fine - 12v lights, pump, flush, radio etc.

Just these plugs, that we use to charge phones etc, not working.

Any thoughts anyone?  Advice greatfully received.

Many thanks,

Have you checked all the fuses?

Many thanks for the quick response.  I looked at them all, couldn't see a problem.

I've just been swapping 10A fuses around and have found what appears to be a dud.  Still can't see it blown though.

    Anyway, new fuse required.

    Many thanks.

Undecided  Something you have plugged in is too powerfull ,so it blew .I had to uprate my socket fuse as the tyre compressor blew it

We have a few 12v sockets in our caravan. One has a higher rated fuse than the rest and came that way from the manufacturer. I discovered it when using a compressor as well

Write your comments here... Not a good idea to uprate fuses in a circuit. The fuse rating is set according to what the circuit can safely take regards current draw. If you put a bigger fuse in and run the circuit at a higher load than it was designed for you run the risk of melting cabels or even a fire.

There was a post recently about the electric pump Bradcot supply for Air Awnings. It has battery clips fitted for this very reason as it draws too much current for a normal cggie lighter socket to handle because of the cable sizes that are used in most applications.

New fuse. Problem fixed.  No melted socket

Cause - a compressor had been plugged into it.

    Embarassed

Had the same problem, so now I run my compressor from the car's 12v sockets, with the engine running of course!!

    Correct  Response  N T H !!

    Gold  Star  From  Brian  Wink

P.S.  If  these  are  the  'Bladed'  type  fuses  might  I  recommend  the  slightly  dearer  version  with  an  LED  which  lights  when  the  fuse  has  blown  --  saves  a  right  load  of  mither  on  a  dark  night  or  in  a  dark  corner  !

Thanks, ABM, but I don't want a gold star, just another purple one will do!!Wink

Great tip about those fuses, too.
