CLs that take 6 or 7 units

We have been to several CLs recently that have had 7 units on the site. These have not been the odd night for someone in an emergency, but 7 pitches in continual use. Since in each case we have had to pay for 2 nights in advance, it obviously hasn't been
a last minute "squeeze in".  We feel cheated when this happens. None of the sites have been big enough for 7 units and have felt very cramped. Has anyone else had this experience? Am I being picky to think that 5 units should mean no more than 5?

No you are not being picky. We are on a cl at the moment with 9 vans. The owners were quite surprised when we complained. They said other CL 's do it and if we weren't happy we could have a refund !

Make sure that both of you, Frances and Mottley, make that clear when you write a review on the CLs, so that others know what to expect if choosing those sites. You can of course name and shame on here should you want to.

You must report it or the CL network is at risk.

As so many seem to indicate that it's the CL network that keeps them in the club, the club risks losing members if they don't stop it.

Have to say that personally I have never been on a CL with more than 5 vans so I don't know how widespread this is

The sites are breaking the rules, as others have said they need reporting to the CC,  we have been lucky enough not to have had more than 5 vans on a site.

Does anybody know how to go about reporting the CLs to the CC?  I have been looking on here, but can't find an email address. I have taken photos. We are here till Monday, but as soon as we leave I will be posting a review on the site.

Frances, if you check your other posts on this subjrct you will see that I've given you the same e-mail address as JVB above. It has worked in the past so should work for you.

It's much more prevalent these days.   More and more are we seeing 7, 8 and 9 vans on sites.   We have complained in the past to owners and been told that the CC are happy with the site during the last inspection so therefore it's ok.    We have also complained
to the CC - we once went to a CL which had 25 vans on and was clearly commercial - that one is no longer in the book!   There is a CL in North Yorkshire which regularly has 6 and sometimes 7 vans on, plus tents which is also apparently ok because there is
a fence between the fields despite the tents using the same facilities as the CL!

If that site is in the Y.Dales NP then if the cc won't sort it then a photo and a letter to the planning office will.

But make very sure indeed that what you allege can be fully substantiated because they will act.

You don't want to find out the CL owner knows a lot more than you do and the site turns out to be legally run

This post and the "Increase sizeof CL" are of the same ilk. With less Cls,the silly restrictions on size and you see why Cl owners regularly over book. The diehards then end up with ariving on site and finding 6/7 vans.No chance of lo cal auth with their
    cuts taking any notice.
