Are they "under the counter"
On a recent visit to a local but quite large dealership for an accessory my wife and I decided that, out of interest only, we would have a look at what new caravans have to offer over and above what our seven year old Abbey provides. Our mission was to find
a two berth, of any make, although this particular dealer is mainly Bailey. Try as we might we couldn't find a two berth and because we had absolutely no intention of buying anything we didn't ask for help. There were four berths, five berths and six berths
with single and double axle configurations but no two berths.
The possible temptation would be to have looked more seriously at these bigger caravans if we had been in the market and it would have been quite easy to have been drawn into buying something that we didn't need or want in terms of size. So, is it the manufacturers
who are not actively promoting smaller sized caravans or is it the dealers who tell the manufacturers that there is only a demand for these bigger caravans as that is where they will make the most profit ?
Perhaps if we had asked about a two berth we might have been directed to another discreet part of the sales area as though we were looking for something off the top shelf!
