Where to stop between Rouen & Alencon

Hi all, we are going to the Loire and Dordogne in a weeks time Hull - Zeebrugge ferry. Looking at going down around Rouen for the 1st night is this ok or should we be looking at going a bit further south, we are heading for Saumur. Where would you recommend
stopping at we have Acsi and CC. We are towing a small car behind our MH so speed will be a little slower. Any favourite sites in the Loire and Dordogne would be appreciated. Thanks
