First winter trip abroad

We are two retired ladies who are thinking of winter sun for three months, Jan to march in Spain or Portugal. As it is our first trip abroad, we are looking for some advice. We have a camper van and a Scottie dog and enjoy company but not noise. We also
don't want to be isolated, so near some town or shops would be nice. Having read a lot and done some research, we are confused. Some people recommend Aires, some say no way! Acsi or club listed sites? Town or near sea? Any advice and recommendations gratefully
received.
