My missing posts

I use "my posts" to follow up on conversations in various sections, recently there have been some posts closed and at the same time I loose most if not all of "my posts".
This is most annoying because one of the posts I had been following at the time had been lost or forgoten, this then could let other posters think that I am not interested anymore. This could come across as rude, I have aready read a post this week where
someone hinted that "perhaps they don't follow up there post"
Why do we loose our posts when others are closed?
