Brittany Ferries sailings to Spain

Apologies if this has been asked before.

We are, once again, discussing spending six weeks or so in Spain after Christmas next year. Something we have never done before.

If...no..WHEN, we do so, which would be the best sailing to avoid the long trawl through France?: Santander or Bilbao?
