Shrinking CL's

I should start by saying I am unsociable. I don't mind a chat about the weather around the water tap but I'm not one to go in and out of other peoples caravans. So we like space and CL's suit us: 5 outfits in a space we can see from the book. But over recent
years this has increasingly not been the case. The sites have been smaller than in the book - often half the size! Two 4 acre sites spring to mind where half of it has been fenced off to accommadate the owners pets (nice animals) but no amendment to the site
directory.
If I wanted to stay on a smaller site - I would have picked one!
Am I the only one who has noticed this practice?
Anyone who is thinking of starting a CL, can it be 4/5 acres or more and not a corner of your garden!
