I use the M20 five days a week and there seems to be more M/H's than caravans heading to the port ( or at least coast bound)

At Cadeside, (Wellington, Somerset) there are only 16 pitches in total. Last Saturday 14 of the 15 were occupied of which 5 were motor homes and 10 were caravans, a 2 : 1 ratio in favour of caravans.

We were on the Hebden Bridge site last week and the proportion was the same, 2 caravans to 1 motorhome. The site was about half full at the time, and that was midweek. I would suspect that the proportion would change over the weekend with a greater percentage
    of caravans to M/Hs.

I did see an article saying motorhome sales were up 20% this year but the caravan manufacturers all seemed to be reporting similar sales increases so not sure the proportion has changed a lot.

It all depends whether the new units are being bought to replace an old one or if it's a first time buy. Perhaps the ratio is the same but without the actual facts we'll never know.

Mostly motorhomes on site here, that is until a British rally turned up they are mostly caravans. Funnily on the big sites in Spain caravans were the majority (not Spanish permenant ones) while on overnight sites it was motorhomes.
