Proportion of Motorhomes?

We have just found a quiet overnight stop, all legal and welcoming, for 50p. Although it might cost us a pound if we need two parking bays!
Good dog walking as well!

Who needs Aires when the well heeled traveling community can wild camp-go Motorhomers
i dont think 'they' use motorhomes, do they.....?

Depends on the definition BB, the free love, ban the bomb, catch the solstice hippies (known in our house as "crusties") were very partial to old coaches. Not sure if they are part of MH statistics!
Not sure about the traditional travelling communities.

Anyway, just come back from Battle site ,and I would say a third of the pitches were taken by M/H's , and the site was full ..
...sounds about right then, for the 'in season' vanning community....
when the weather starts to get really cold (September) you'll see a change for sure as all those caravans get tucked up sung for the winter......Aw,
bless0 -
And I thought it was motor caravan that got tucked up with those insulting covers over the windscreen and cab windows.

Mine isn't getting tucked up for the winter BB its emigrating!!
quite right, too, Jeff

23% as opposed to 33% on site. Oh, well, near enough - I can't fret about it, Nellie.
Me neither. I guess that each storage area will have a different percentage, depending on area.

winterOnly some, BB. We and many other caravanner tour all the year round in this country. During the winter months there are still many more caravans than M/Hs out and about.

Don't get smug BB, lots of Motorhomes do the same. Not mine I hasten to add..

Now, dont get rude Brian
just reflecting on the many tales of folk getting their caravans out of storage in the spring and then posting here how their batteries etc don't work...
vans that come out in he spring usually get put to bed in the autumn....September?
yes, there will be some Motorhomes which hibernate but I'll wager that a larger percentage of caravans do it than motorhomes...
however, it matters not one jot....
im on the next plane out of Dodge.....bye....

Theres no need for caravans to have flat batteries when not being used. If the van is in storage, take the leisure battery home and charge it up regularly, if the Caravan is at home, just plug it into a socket every so often and keep the battery topped up. ---- Simples !!!!.
Much easier to keep a motor caravan's leisure battery fully charged, every time you take it on a journey it is being charged. . Likewise it can charged from a socket at home if not using the van for some time.

It's remarkable how a casual observation and a fairly trivial question can lead to such debate! Vans in storage, parking at home, flat batteries, windscreen covers etc......
Remember this all started when OH said that there seemed to be relatively more MHs these days and I wondered what the ratio to caravans was.
Thanks to all who have replied. Looks like around 3:1 to 2:1 in favour of caravans.

Frankly I do not see that it matters what the balance is. We all tour in our preferred manner and the actual vehicle mix is irrelevant.

Motor Homes ar okay but i would say that about 90% of them are front wheel drive ,which is all very well it they are pitched on hard standing ,but they are useless on soft ground ,and the majority of owners seem to think that spinning the front wheels
will get them off soft ground.I have spoken to two cl owners who have experienced this have had thier cl pitches ruined and have decided not to accept motor homes.0 -
Fortunately there are quite a few of us who know how to drive off soft ground, I've never churned up any site I've been on....

I've seen quite a lot of damage to the corners of grass verges. As this is off topic I will say no more.....
