Car Rental France

Can any give advice on renting a car in France.  We would like to set up on a site and then touring around the area by car. We have not made a descision about which area yet.  Maybe round Reims and then a coastal area a week at a time. We have been in France
several times but never tried to do it this way.  Main reason we are thinking about this is to save moving our 7.8 mtr. motorhome.
