Advice on touring USA

hi everyone 

has anyone toured california? we are thinking of going summer 2017 maybe starting at las vegas and finishing at san francisco ? any advice or tour companies would be a great help

    Yes, a few years ago (we've made 4 trips altogether but the other 3 were in the Rockies). We started & finished in San Francisco.

    We used Cruise America which were OK but not brilliant.

    Other places to consider:

    Lone Pine / Alabama Hills

    Bodie (genuine ghost town, well worth a visit)

    Yosemite

    The Hearst mansion (just North of LA)

    If in LV and you haven't already seen it, the Grand Canyon is a must.

    I have to say we always just hire a car and use hotels in the US.  We found it just as cheap as hiring an RV if you're not returning to the same place you left from.
