Dordogne recommendation

I have never taken the caravan to France before, but fancy this region either early or late season. Many of the sites I have reviewed seem to be extremely busy with lots of facilities suitable for families. Can anyone recommend a peaceful site where we can
relax and use as a base for sight-seeing?
