Towing with a Tiguan

Hi all, we have just bought a bailey senator carolina series 6 2008 model which we will tow with our navara no problem, but my parents have bought into it with us and will need to tow it occasionally too. 

My question is, they have a vw tiguan 2l tdi (2013 model) and I know that the van is much more than the 85% rule.  As I understand it the car will tow the weight but it may be unsafe for example on the motorway in high winds. 

 

They would be very selective about when they travel as they are retired, and if it is a long distance we will swap cars, so would the tiguan be ok for very occasional towing would you say?
