If you're on Facebook, did you know that the Club now has a Facebook Page?   The Page started in August and so far has featured the CL network a couple of times.  If you're a Facebook user please 'Like' and 'Share' the recent
post (October 1st) featuring the CL network.  If inclined, why don't you 'Comment' and share your experiences of CL's.

Rochelle announced the FB launch a while back.

I don't do FB either but I'm wondering what your interest is Cholsey. Is it to raise the profile of CLs?

Are you a representative of CL owners Cholsey or CL users? Wonder how you were appointed as an advisor with only five years in the club.

Have asked this a number of times now but of course you don't have to answer if you don't want to.

Tinwheeler - Precisely that.  While I'm a CL owner, I also wear the hat of a Club 'Nominated Member'.  I'd be pleased to meet you at the AGM later this month if you are able to attend.

The premise of my nomination to the Club Council was that I'd try and represent both CL Visitors and CL Owners to the Club and the Executive.

I'm therefore keen to ensure that the Club continues to accord CL's in general, the attention they deserve.

Facebook is just one way that the Club seeks to engage existing - and new - members. I believe that CL's are an important part of the Club's offer.   Research has shown that 22% of members join because of the CL network.  I'm hoping that this is reflected
in the degree of marketing given to CL's in comparison with Club sites..

Fysherman, I thank you for your support !!  Having run a CL for 7 years, met hundreds of CL visitors, and been awarded a number of good reviews for how we run the CL, I hope I have some experience to offer the Club.  Maybe you'll come and stay with us one
day and share your opinions with me over a coffee or a beer?

Regarding the Nominated Member process: Every year the Club asks members (article in the Magazine) if they would like to support the work of the Club by becomming Nominated Members.  It's open to all.  You simply follow the procedure outlined in the Club's
'How the Club is Run' document.  Apply, submit a CV, get interviewed and iff selected get nominated.

If you have strong opininons - and from your many contrinbutions on CT I believe you do - why don't you apply?

Alternatively, if you don't want to volunteer, but still want to make your voice heard, or meet the Club Executive or Management I'd suggest you come to the AGM (22 Oct.) and put your opinions across in the Q&A session.  It's
    open to all members.

    Many thanks CG.

I am certainly considering taking a more active role in the club.

Love CL's,---- I use them in preference to "all singing all dancing" Club Sites.  -------- No time for Twitter or Facebook.  The Caravan club IMO, has dumbed down by using Facebook.

Just worried that the average price asked now is causing sites to close as members look elsewhere for cheaper alternatives.

Not long ago an average CL was one of the cheapest forms of camping around but I am not sure that's the case now.

The more expensive full facility CL sites must be balanced by low cost basic CL'S and thatdoesn't seem to be happening..

If nothing changes and the expensive sites become the norm then I think CLs will continue to close faster than new expensive ones open and I wonder if that will result in theCC losing a lot of members to the other club that does offer cheap (but very good) campsites

Good post, Fysh. I think the increase in some CL prices to more than that charged by CC itself on like for like sites is another indication that CL owners should consider their futures.

I just want it recognised that a full facility CL at £20 is not necessarily as profitable as a basic one could be at £10.

It all depends on how much the infrastructure costs to put in. But please do the maths first before committing large sums then trying to make it all add up.

5vans is the most you can have to pay for it all and that is very unlikely to ever change

Can we return to the Topic?  There are other threads to dicuss Prices.  Frankly the topic of prices has been discussed ad infinitum IMHO.

If you ARE a Facebook user, please find the post aboiut CL's and 'Like', 'Share' or Comment.   Thanks.

Hey, CG, this is a friendly discussion and, as you know, topics wander but we are still discussing CLs. Is there really any more to say about FB? We're all aware of it after all and I don't think you need to try quite so hard to push it. Just my opinion, mind.Sad

I am a Facebook user and as a rule I never lput a like on any commercial undertaking particularly if I haven't used their product or visited their premises.  Just the way I am.  If I visited your CL I  would of course leave a review on the CC site

Many members of this forum regard CLs as the 'jewel in the crown' and their 'only reason for staying in the Club'.  I think that Ted is the first-ever CL Owner to be a member of the Club Council - this is long overdue, and can
    only be of mutual benefit.

I have been to Ted's CL and have spoken to him on several occasions.  I find him the most-accessible member of the Club Council.  I value his input and am grateful that he is prepared to contribute his time, experience and acumen to the overall benefit of
    the Club.

It is good that CLs are represented on the Council, so a big thank you for all efforts on behalf of CLs, providers and users. I don't like or use Facebook, but a lot do, so hopefully another string to the bow.

If you have strong opininons - and from your many contrinbutions on CT I believe you do - why don't you apply?

Because I have made my opinions known to yourself as the "nominated Member" through CT.

I notice you do ignore my posts which are intended to be helpful although I am inferring you may think otherwise. I spent a considerable amount of time in one post outlining the issues which are being expressed amongst campers on rivals to the CL network
but did not even have a reply.

This leads me to wonder if the opinions of those that do not agree with the way the CL network is currently moving (ie higher costs for new potential CL owners putting off those who wish to open a basic CL) is being brought to the attention of the club hierarchy
    for consideration.

Can you at confirm that you will present opinions such as expressed by myself?
