Sites near Portsmouth

we will be travelling to France in late August returning late September.  We usually use Dover Calais but as we are going to the Vendee we thought we would use Portsmouth to Caen. My question is if we use the afternoon return ferry from Caen can anyone recommend
at site near Portsmouth.  Looking at the CC site at Rooksbury Park it does not accept late arrivals.
