Its not the 1st day of the rain that is the problem,it is when the water from already waterloged ground further up in the hills, arrives

Jill I'm due there on the 28th. A report on here would be welcome as it will give me time to book somewhere else. Although I think in 18 days it should be ok

Parts of Lancashire had heavy rain again yesterday and last night and there are local flood warnings in place again.

Yes, it was terrible again last night and until about 10am here.  The field at the back of our garden has a huge pond on it, just waiting for some ducks to arrive!

I think the new part at Southport is closed, we were there last weekend and were told by the wardens that the new part closed last Monday for the rest of winter.

Closing off of the new part of the site could be a twofold thing.  Apart from the issue of flooding, if the site isn't particularly busy, closing it would lessen the daily tasks of the wardens as they'd only have one toilet block to clean and less bins to
    empty.

Once I'm there I can see how things are and let you know Harry although, as you say, unless there's more heavy rain, things should be back to normal by the 28th.

The flood water on the path into Victoria park has gone down it is now possible to walk into town without wellies but still a little muddy in places.

Thanks Eileen.  I'll be there tomorrow afternoon.  You're more than welcome to come for coffee.  Make yourself known at the office. Obviously I don't know what pitch I'll be on but I'm in a Lunar Quasar 462 with a dark metallic grey soft top Mazda MX5.

If the weather is reasonable I will do that Jill.  You will know me ....as I will be on some unusal wheels! Not even got a soft top - I could do with a roof these days. Don't wait around though.

    For Harryb,

Had a good week at the Southport Site and the only surface water still around is off site (some on the Esplanade, which isn't uncommon and the pathway through to Rotten Row and/or Victoria Park was a little muddy) but no issues on or around the site.

    The new part remains closed.

    Jill

Thanks very much for that. I was supposed to be going on Thursday but circumstances have made me put it back until Monday but we are still able to have six nights there.

Does the pathway to the park go directly from the site?

    Hi Harryb,

As MollysMummy says, there are pathways (public rights of way between the Esplanade and Rotten Row) which cross the site at two points, one which gives access directly into Victoria Park or you can walk along Rotten Row if the park gates are locked.

If you look at the site plan, you'll see the footpaths marked.

At this time of year they are locking Victoria Park gates at 4.30 pm so you'd have to use Rotten Row if walking back from town any later.

If you haven't visited before, Morrisons is within walking distance through the park but there is also Sainsbury's, Lidl and Tesco and ASDA a little further afield.
