ALKO ATC PROBLEM?

I was testing the electrics on my caravan the other day and once connected to the towcar the ALKO ATC system made all the right noises but the indicator light behaved differently. Rather than settling to it's normal green it flashed red then went out. After
a few seconds the red light would come on then go out again. This would happen again every 30 seconds or so. On checking the manual it seems that constant green is good, constant red is ok and flashing red is not good but the symptoms I have ( mainly not illuminated
with occasional red blink ) gets no mention or should this be classed as flashing red. Has anyone else had this experience and if so what was the remedy? Can the ATC system be manually overridden?.
