first trip to france

Hi all
Could any of you seasoned travellers give me a few simple tips for our first time to France in our M/H, for two complete novices ,via Calais never driven abroad before or speak French, We like scenery, sandy beaches, good food and peaceful locations etc.
Possibly Normandy. Any idea of routes, Roads to stay on etc would be much appreciated.
