First trip to Spain

I'm thinking of a 2week trip to Spain in 2015 late May/June/early July staying at a site that will let me tour the Pyrenees/northern Spain, sites appear to be few and far between if not on the coast which I'm not bothered about as I prefer somewhere quieter
and more local.

I've looked at the Portsmouth Santander ferry option which appears to come out at about £1000 return, car/caravan +2 or just over half that if you take the weekend Etretat, this seems a good bet if you take into account driving time through France (which
I don't particularly fancy) petrol, tolls and normal cross channel fair.

Any comments/advice would be really welcome thanks
