Manual or DSG Passat?

We are currently looking to change our tow car to a Passat Estate and are undecided whether to go for a manual or the DSG version. The downsides to the DSG are higher road tax (£125 compared to £30) and lower mpg. Is it reasonable to expect a loss of 6mpg or thereabouts?

The MTPLM of the caravan is 1269kgs and looking for a nearly new car with a maxmum of 20,000 miles
