Why did you buy a Twin Axle?

I have recently noticed that a lot of newbies about to start caravanning, decide from the outset to buy a large TA with a vehicle hardly able to tow it rather than go down the more traditional route, of smallest caravan, before upsizing if necessary.

Similarly you do see a lot of TA used by a couple on their own.We were on a CL recently where the weather was fine and sunny but not really warm enought sit out without the benefit of an awning ( porch or full). Consequently this couple were "trapped" inside
this large caravan whilst others with smaller caravans/ awnings were enjoying the sun.

Could someone please explain the rationale. I am intrigued
