Holding Spot Near Portsmouth
Hi,
We have an evenng sailing from Portsmouth in a few weeks. Journey down will be a long one and we are likly to leave early just in case of hold ups on the dreaded M25.
Do any of you guys know of an area we can park up with a car and van should we arrive too early to check in at the ferry? somewhere to streach legs etc.
BTW we try to avoide motorway services unless they come highly recommended!
Thanks in advance

Previous sailing likely to be away at 1515, so yes, as Brue says, just go to the port and line up.

It does have a couple of vicious sleeping policemen though. If you want to avoid them, after turning off the A27, when reaching the first roundabout, double back and asd you approach the traffic lights for the A27, turn left into Lock View where you can
park alongside the seawall. You will have to do a three point turn with your caravan to come back out though. Sweeping vistas of mud at low tide.0 -
We frequently travel with caravan along the M27 between Sussex and Dorset. There is a Sainsburys superstore at
Farlingon, just off the A/M27 about 15 to 20 minutes from the port. Access with a caravan is very easy and the far end of the car park has always been empty when we have been there.
Plenty of room to park caravan and go for a coffee or last minute shopping. we have done this a number of times without problem, and though I have never seen another caravan I have seen trailers and motorhomes parked there,0
