Cardiff to Anglesey - best route

We are going to spend a week at Cae Mawr Club site on Anglesey, but have not made the journey from Cardiff before. Two routes suggest themselves - the A470, and the A49/A5. Does anyone have any advice?

    Cardiff- Brecon, Builth Wells- Rhayader-Llanidloes. Turn off A470 before Newtown for Machynlleth.At Cemaes Road go to Dolgellau.Porthmadog, Bangor, Anglesey. Roads used by public transport and HGV
