For those of you who wish to find out the cheapest fuel in a particular area ot would be worth looking at this website -
petrolprices.com  They will also send you regular emails if you sign up.  Easpecially good if you are visiting an area you are not familiar with.

This is a useful resurrected post from four years ago!  So it's not gremlins, it's actually rather easy to find the very first post in a section and add a new post to it.  Find the section (Tips for making Caravanning and Touring Cheaper, then go down to the page bottom and click the >> symobol.  In theory this should take you to the most recent post, but it doesn't, it takes you to the very early ones - and they are almost all listed with no replies.

Perhaps there were no members to reply in the very earliest days of the forum?!?!

Great website that - I use petrol prices.com regularly.  It is a bit weird how old posts are popping back up on this new site.  Weird and good!

Thanks for resurrecting this post, as I missed it first time round.

Is it a question of you get what you pay for? Does anyone know if the cheaper Supermarket fuels are of equal quality to the branded ones?

I've used the site for a good few years. I used to get a weekly update of local prices by Email but i realise that I haven't had them for quite a while.

All fuel in any area tends to come from the same refinery and apart from a few additives it is the same stuff. I am far from convinced that there is any real difference, certainly nothing I can detect when checking consumption.

    Ask Chemical Jasper,

As all tankers from all companies including the supermarkets, tend to fill up from the same distribution depot,  wink

I must admit, that is my thought. However, there are some, including the 'brand' advertising who suggest that the more expensive branded fuels are superior. Now I've no evidence of this but I do wonder that if this is case, do you get an improved performance which justifies the extra cost.

There was a discussion in the old version on this very subject, started last May. See below:-

Unfortunately an error message is coming up on this!

What was the consensus of opinion? Was the extra cost of the branded fuel considered worthwhile purchasing? Was the engine protective qualities proven?
