Ferry Trips to Ireland

I have had look at the ferry prices to Ireland and they seem expensive compared to the channel crossings.

I do have a 4x4 which is higher than a car and a twin axle van but these don't look to make a big difference.

Has anyone any advice on ports or companies to use.
