Rallying is not for me??
A lot of the posts in this section deal with the minutea and politics of rallying, I am, let's face it as guilty as anyone of this.
So in contrast I thought I would relate this tale. Last weekend we were co-rally officicers, which means we don't have to do that much, with our friends as the rally officers. We have 27 vans booked on, beautiful venue, nice weather, good company, the only
thing planned is the entirely optional meal in the excellent pub which is 5 minutes walk away. I know what you are thinking, it's a dirty job but someone has got do it. We have a total of 42 who go to the pub on Saturday night and as far as I know a good time
was had by all.
Anyway the point of this post we and our friends are on a table with two other couples. The discussion turned to how we started rallying. Each one us said we never dreamed that we ever go on a rally let alone enjoy it. Our friends and us have probably
attended about 400 rallies between us. The other couples I would have thought 1500-2000 between them. Both couples had gone from not dreaming of even attending one to being centre chairmen, well people to be strictly accurate. One the couples, have decided
to stop running rallies their last one will be latter this year. Personally I still think they have a lot to offer but they are using the fact that they are both in their mid 80's as an excuse to slow down.
My point is If you don't think rallies are for you, then you are not alone, but give it a go and you might shock yourself by enjoying it and if don't enjoy it have you really lost that much by trying?
