Damage to front end 12 inches of awning rail

Somehow, I have crushed the bottom 12 inches or so of my awning rail at the front of the van - can't imagine how - maybe I hit a low post or something when reversing.  The metal is a bit broken, but the caravan bodywork is intact.  But it makes it difficult
to feed the awning through and to set it up properly.   It's also unsightly.   Is it possible to replace a small section like this?    My dealer tells me that the only solution is to replace the entire awning rail right round the van - and he wouldn't recommend
that because of the cost and the risk of disturbing the seals.  But maybe someone know a specialist repairer?   I would be grateful for any advice.
