Insurance whilst in France

First time post, go easy on me please.

We're going to France this weekend for the 1st time with a caravan for a fortnight . Bought the van last year and had a brilliant time touring UK.

Just checked my caravan insurance policy and it is only for UK... (its with CETA)

Policy is up for renewal in September,  would it be better to just get another policy out with another company that covers Europe  or can I get European trip insurance to cover the 2 week trip?

I have just bought Red pennant cover but this doesnt cover for damage or theft etc?

Thanking you in advance.

As a first step I would phone and ask your present insurer if they can extend the policy to cover France. Otherwise I think you will have to hunt on line for a new annual policy,.Good luck with your first trip  - do let us know how you get on.

Best advice bearing the timeframe would be to get back in contact with the club insurance dept and take their advice. It will probably to take out a new insurance policy through the club. It's a good policy but more expensive than most. However you don't have the time to mess about.

Next year you can research it all a bit more.

    Have a great holiday.

In all the years that we had a caravan and went abroad with it we never took out additional insurance cover for the caravan other than Red Penant breakdown, surely caravan insurance covers you wherever you are in Europe? We now have a M/H and its the same
the insurance covers us Europe wide, then we take out breakdown as an extra. Do you really need to up your insurance for France?

You are certainly covered by most insurance policies but the OP seems to have a kind of policy that might not.

Obviously he needs to find out quick but I am sure the club would advice him properly.

Cancelled my old policy and took out a new one that covers Europe.

    Many thanks.
