Sat navs in France

The boss and I are off to France on Sunday,looking forward to sun and wine until someone told OH that sat navs with fixed speed camera info were illegal,I say its the mobile detection equipment thats banned but OH will not accept my word for it so can anyone
help thus keeping a harmonious holiday?
