booster for digital signals with status aerial

I have a status aerial - it already features a built in booster system. Normally in good areas digital tv comes through fine, but in some areas the signal is weak or drops out occasionally. can i use a plug in booster that goes into a 13 amp socket or
will this simply amplify the noise as well as the signal, although if I remember correctly, digital signals are either on or off, and the information is 1 0r 0 which makes them less prone to interference than analogue signals whoch can get lost in background
noise.
