France, going south, east or west??

Hi everyone. Jumping in at the deep end!! Getting our first caravan next month, never done it before!! Have three weeks in June going to France for the first time via Calais on eurotunnel due to the dog. Just wife and I and dog. Can anyone suggest whether
to go east or west (going south to the Lot if that makes sense). We are looking to stay for two nights enroute to the Lot in a nice peaceful tranquile site with water/ electrics, nice restaurant/bar etc. Then, after a week in the Dordogne/Lot, the same on
the way back to Calais.
