I am considering the above site, but was wondering f anyone has been recently?

I need to know whether swimming shorts are allowed in the pool, otherwise its another site to strike off my list as Hubby refuses towear speedos

Thanks in advance

There are lots of reviews of Soleil Plage
    here
including plenty from 2015, and one which actually mentions that shorts are allowed in the pools!

Val thanks for that we are going to be there in two weeks time. Was not looking forward to wearing speedos with my shape.

I'm sure you look fine, whatever your shape but if you don't, who cares? Appearances don't matter at all, get your Budgie Smugglers on and enjoy the water.

You are probably right Pliers, as with my 'overhang' you would hardly see them from the front anyway.Happy

Val we will be staying at your suggested site at Azay-le-rideau on our way towards Le Havre to get the night ferry Eclat. If you have done the same, how did you fill the time between leaving Azay before 12.00, and arriving at Le Havre about 8.30pm. I do not want to spend hours on an aire but actually use the time to see something. Hope you can help.

We didn't have the caravan with us last time Mr H, so our timings were very different when we travelled back on the Etretat, but we did do a tour of the timbered houses to the south of Le Havre.  It's obviously much more difficult to do such a tour with
a caravan.  We don't often use the western ports, so I'm not familiar with caravan friendly places to stop en-route.

Thanks anyway Val. I always seem to have this as an issue at the end of a tour .

If anyone can suggest caravan-friendly places to stop in Honfleur, then that's definitely worth a visit!

Hi Bebo, I visited Soleil Plage last year... We loved it in fact were are going back to the Dordogne this year. I can confirm that you do not have to wear Speedo's in the swiming pool. Although we spent most of our time in the River.

Have just spent a very lovely 10 days here, site is in a lovely setting, really enjoyed our stay, payed extra for a pitch beside the river, but all now fully booked for French peak holiday season, and can confirm a fairly relaxed attitude to wearing of swimming
shorts as opposed to budgie smugglers......

Just returned from a week at Le Domaine where we had a lovely large pitch on the edge of the Dordogne. For parents with children with boundless energy this site has a goldmine of activities. If you do take a riverside pitch you do need a mover, as access is at the end of a narrow road with badly parked cars on each side, unless you are strong enough to turn your caravan through 180 degrees by hand. The location of the site lends itself to very easy access to all the delights of the Dordogne region.

Used Val's suggested Azay le Rideux site just outside Tours and it was an excellant choice. To overcome my concern of having too much time to fill waiting for the embarkation at Le Havre, they let us stay on site until 3'oclock giving us time for lunch in the village. Thank you Val for sharing this gem.
