Light nylon porch awnings

I had a light nylon porch awning, which was almost useless in a high wind. I thought that it was because of the fibreglass poles.

How do the new style metal poles fare in high winds?

Do they hold the awning steady? I have a heavy porch awning, but it is a struggle now for me to put it up, due to infirmity. I want to get one of the lighter ones, but would value opinions on these.
