Hi all, I was just perusing the .gov website regarding legal towing limits and came across the following statement

Width and length

The maximum trailer width for any towing vehicle is 2.55 metres. The maximum length is 7 metres for a trailer towed by a vehicle weighing up to 3.5 tonnes (3,500 kilograms).

I have a Lunar Lexon with a total length of 7.26m which I tow with a Nissan X Trail. According to the above this is breaking the law????

So this means that anyone with a caravan over 7.0m long requires a vehicle in excess of 3500kg MAM (GVW) to legally tow it, i.e. a large van or truck.

I wonder how many people are towing ilegally? I would suggest anyone with a twin axle and towing with a car/4x4 needs to check this out.
