How do I get the shine back on my 'van ?

I'm in the process of de-winterising our Bucaneer Elan 'van, and one of the jobs is a good clean outside. I've done it now and the 'van looks great, except for the front, which I can't get to shine anything like I think it should.
I've tried loads of different polishes and treatments and although it's clean and very smooth now, it still doesn't 'shine' as I would like.
Can anyone suggest how I get the front as shiny as the back and sides ?
