Road trip thro Central Australia
A few years ago now, Ginnie and I met up with her sister and husband to do a road trip thro the centre of Australia, up from Adelaide in South Australia into the Northern Territory of Australia. The "Territory" is nearly half a million sq miles in size (Britain, France, Spain and Germany) with only around 100 000 people living there.
First, we headed to a cattle station (ranch) on the border of South Australia and the Territory . . . . .

In the bush, you don't pay for overnight stops. You camp in the bush and live under the stars . . . . . one of many overnight stops on the way up north . . .

. . . . . there's always a camp fire to cook on, put the billie on for a cuppa and have a warm shower . . . .

. . . there were loads of wild camels that year on the station, that had moved in from the desert in search of feed, as a drought was on. They'd break valuable bush tucker for the cattle and bust down fencing . . . We'd shoot them and have the scotch fillets for steaks on a barbie for tea . . . .

We crossed the border into the Territory, 1 500 miles from Darwin on the north coast. We spent a day in Alice Springs before heading north again.
We came upon the "Devil's Marbles", a collection of stone rising from the Outback, so pulled in for a while . . . This shot is of the campsite at the Marbles . . .
