Australians touring western Europe
Ginnie and I come back to England in late April for 4 months, to pick our Coachman and Subaru up from storage over winter. Then we head for the ferry out of Dover.
We had a ball last year in the UK. After going on our first rally and meeting some really interesting and friendly folk along the way, we were hooked on rallies. I was told that 95% of Brits populate the coast of Spain and Portugal and that if you go 20
kms inland, you won't come across many. Also, the prices double or even treble in the summer school holidays there (July / August), so where do all the Brits go in that time period? Do most come home to the UK when it's better weather at home?
I'd imagine there are really interesting camping spots dotted around France, Spain and Portugal that you've been to that would take four Australians. This time, my brother-in-law and his wife are tagging along in their newly purchased UK motorhome (Fiat
Ducato), but none of us have much of a clue what's involved once we get off the ferry at Calais or Dunkirk. Australia is just one big country where everyone speaks English and we all do the same stuff.
We'll be limited in time to only 90 days on the Continent (Australian / New Zealand passport holders) before we come back to the UK for the last month or two (six months for Australians / NZ / Canadians in the UK)
ValDa has mentioned ACSI cards which I assume can be bought beforehand, but where do you stock up on these cards?
