rockies adventure

We plan to visit Canada next summer, taking in Vancouver, a cruise to the ice fields of Alaska and a journey through the Rockies. Being die hard campers we thought of a motorhome rather than staying in motel/ hotels but the O.H.s Brother ( resident in Canada
) says the campsites are extremely expensive. Does anyone have experience of camping in Canada?

I'm looking at this too.  Does anyone who has done it have the name of a rental company in Vancour with whom they were happy?

Here is some info concerning motorhome rental from Vancouver.  I have just this minute come off the phone with Camper Travel Canada.  There cheapest MH (loads of room for two) on line to rent from Vancouver for 9 nights is showing as $840 (£525 currently).

This includes no km.  We are going to Jasper / Banff and back so a suitable km pack will cost $1080.

We have to pay $170 for a "convenience pack" each (bedding / knives and forks etc)

There is a mandatory Prep fee of $60

The insurance excess is $5000 per incident.  If we want to reduce that to $500 it will cost $225.

Bottom line - our $840 rental will cost us $2457 or £1535 for a nine day rental (if we want the insurance).  Still have to pay for petrol for the V8 petrol engine for 2000 miles or so (petrol only 75p a litre or so currently) as well as campsite fees which
    I have still to research.

    Hope this is useful.

We are preparing for a MH tour in June and a booking error landed up giving us a 9 berth MH when we only wanted a 4berth. The 4 berth is costing us an EXTRA £900 - the smaller MH are more popular so are more expensive - be careful in your booking detail
