Overnight ferries

Although I've been abroad several times, I've always used Dover-Calais. This time I'm going Portsmouth-santander, so how do members cope with the food in the fridge for the overnight journey? Bottle of frozen milk to keep it cool or buy supplies in Spain?
What's the best solution?
