The dreaded damp or as our case wet!
Having a 2005 bailey Discovery that was fully serviced for 5 years; then due to combination of company going broke and our own money problems we carried on servicing ourselves.BIG MISTAKE!! We found a little what we thouight was condensation at the end
of winter this year in the front/side 2 cupboards but shelf dry. Then the mould appeared within a couple of weeks along the front window shelf.Gingerly peeling back the window rubber discovered sodden wood then the blind fell down leaving small wet hole.Panic
set in I called Bailey go to your dealer they said.Gone into liquidation we said tough they said try one further away.We did, asked what to do ,was told to bring it in and we will look at it sometime but couldn't work on it until July/August this was in April
.Cost? we said ,the sharp intake of breath from repairer ,can't quote but bloke very upset last week when we told him £1500-£20000 ,As we don't have that money have bought heavy duty sticky tape and put it on the roof seam stayed dry fior a bit then more wet. This
time we are going away with tape over roof seams and around the front window lets hope that temp fix sorts problem, after main holiday will be removing and siliconing windows, seams etc will keep you informed.
p.s We love the van and are not considering getting rid for a few years so can try a DIY approach
