Loss of Wheel
Just back from our 17 day to France this time there were six of us.. We all were travelling to our last site for one night Trologot, we find this easier for our short drive to the Ferry at Roscoff. We were in front and the others behind , we turned down a road and lost the others . We managed to turn round and still did not find the others . What happened next was quite alarming.. The oldest in our group had lost a Wheel off his Caravan, Luckily one from our group was behind him.. They managed to salvage the Wheel and put the Nuts back but one was missing.. When they arrived at the Site everyone was relieved no one was hurt had they been on the Motorway that could of been a different matter. My Husband checked the Wheel that was ok, but he had to go and find some more nuts to secure the tyre as we had a 6-7 hr back from Plymouth to Manchester and on 3 Wheel Nuts this was not ok.. My Husband managed to find a Shop in Roscoff bought two more Nuts for 10 Euros.Again my husband tightened the nuts checked the tyre pressure all was ok.. I have read on here about wheels coming off Caravans how close to home this reality was .. So please everyone check that all your Wheel Nuts are Tight..The only damage was a smashed wheel arch on the Caravan that can be replaced .
