Alco stabiliser leverage

Does anyone have any tips for reducing the effort required to engage and disengage the Alco stabiliser, perhaps a gadget that would increase the length of the handle when hitching/unhitching?

I've tried eating more spinach ( but not the new 7 portions a day guidelines !), but it doesn't work.
