Leaving at 12 oclock
Apologies but I want to reopen this discussion yet again. Just back from a site and told must leave, thus wasting sunny BH Monday. Many years ago my friend pinned the club down, after staying on herself and seeing about 20 empty pitches, to posting her a letter from the club to wave at stubborn wardens to remind them that if there are spaces free (within reason) then vans should be allowed to stay on. We all got a copy and we all used it a few times. I have lost my letter and this weekend once more my husband went into very polite battle. It was clear there were about 20 empty spaces but they would not budge and even said we had to move to mow the lawn (we were on hardstanding) After being told repeatedly how full they would be later on Monday, my husband asked if there were any actual spaces he could book and was met with immediate acceptance when he took his wallet out. We paid for an extra night. At 7pm when we left, there were about 19 spaces, despite the warm weather. Meanwhile a caravan had arrived at 10.30am. Did they pay extra ? I know some sites such as Chatsworth have a single lane entrance (ridiculous !) and rules are vital, but it is the petty mindedness which is so irritating. This is OUR club - if we were to leave and go elsewhere because other sites are more reasonable (or go to the many excellent CLs because they understand the concept of 48 hours paid for, to enjoy an entire 2 day weekend) these petty wardens would have no job. We pay for them and pay very highly for the use of a pitch.
