Plea to CL Owners
Please, Please, Please..... mow the grass !
On our third CL in 2 weeks - 2 have been like a meadow and the current one more like a jungle. I know not all are like this but it really does make things soggy at this time of year if the grass is long.

Perhaps they are having problems mowing the grass because of all the rain and the ground is too soft for the mower.

Or too wet for the mower! We are behind with our lawn mowing, even with a petrol mower, as it just clogs the blades. It is nicer though if not too long on CLs.

I don’t know we can support the “plea” as cutting grass on CLs has mixed blessings. If not effectively picked up then we find walking autumn dew damped grass into the van can be a curse.
Whilst not liking grass to be too long it being uncut at up to 100 mm presents us less problems than recently cut grass that is not well collected.
For the neatly mowed pitch we would seek out the main sites, but we much rather a rural CL, longer grass and all.0 -
I'm a bit less tolerant. Don't like to see it longer than 60-70mm. Any sort of dampness above this length results in footwear choice tending towards wellies. The other thing is that the longer the grass, the harder it becomes to cut or dry out enough to cut.

If the ground is too soft and wet to take a mower, surely the site should be closed until it dries out? I certainly wouldn't take a motorhome onto ground like that.

If I may share a canny trick I've picked up over the years re grass clippings, this trick also works with Autumnal fallen leaves(non Autumnal too) if I know there is grass on any pitch not just CL pitches I wear Wellingtons, then on returning to my LV/Tent/pod
etc I kick them off & enter my 'abode' wearing socks. I hope you at least try this canny trick out, it works. Its good to share

Its good to shareRocky ...I can only see one problem with your post,it would mean that users of CLs etc would have to think, that as they are on grass it could mean wearing adequate footwear for the conditions,
As most sensible people will know,it not bad weather etc its inadequate clothing that causes "distress"

I'm waiting for someone to come up with a "sanitised" ultra premium pitch for those who have difficulty coping with great outdoors in general! You know, insects, visiting wildlife, other users, other users children, others users pets, other users BBQ, real grass, pretend grass, grass clippings, trees, leaves from trees, offensive countryside smells, noisy countryside animals, birds singing, cocks crowing, cows f*rting, sheep leaving bits of wool about, and as for rabbit poo....... £100 a night should cover it, extra for disinfecting hook up point each night!
If you google "carcoon" the perfect protective kit is available for precious cars. I am sure there would be a market for a pitch sized model!
(not having a go at you birder billy just those who cannot cope with camping/touring in general, but do it, because it is either "trendy" or cheap! And then moan!)

But then it would be denied to those that can cope with a bit of damp, something quite common in the UK.
Hopefully if the ground is soft rather than simply the grass too damp to mow, the owner will be selective with what units can use those pitches.

What on earth is wrong with just shoving them, the right way up, under the van. They make a nice dry overnight shelter for the wee beasties,
and give you something else to complain about when having to turf out these freeloaders before use.

It's just happened tonight in the dark, a large M/H has just driven onto the Cl we're on and straight off the H/S onto the grass and guess what....yes got stuck!! This
