What type of cycle rack is best?

We have just bought as Autosleeper Nuevo and it has a towball, with I think the 'socket' for a cycle carrier. We have necer used one of these before. What is members' advice - should we buy a carrier that fits in this, or should we have a carrier 'bolted
on' as usual?
