Hi All, I think that ValDa recently posyted about using vouchers on DFDS but it seeme dthat you could not book caravanns except on the Newcastle route.

Just been looking at the Tesco wesite and then the DFDS/tesco site and it clearly states two things;

1.DOVER-FRANCE FERRY CROSSINGS – NOW AVAILABLE ON DOVER-CALAIS!

High-sided caravans and trailers are available for travel if you book before 31 October 2016. Subject to availability.

2.Can caravans and trailers be added to my booking?

Yes but only on our Newcastle-Amsterdam route.

 Does any know, or has anyone used, the Tesco vouchers for a car/caravan on the Dover routes??

Allan

    AllanandJean - it might be worth a phone call to DFDS to check!  Use the non 0800 number 01303 282061 or 01303 272222 to avoid paying through the nose for a long call.  Calls to the above two numbers are always answered more quickly.

    If you get an answering machine "our lines must be all busy if you can hear this" on calling 01303 282061 call the switchboard 01303 272222 then choose option 1 for bookings which puts you straight into the queue.

    0800 numbers are free from a landline. It's the 0845 ones you have to watch for.

    Sorry - its actually an 0871 number - and those aren't in the free allowance on my mobile phone and every time you call using this number you are actually paying DFDS a certain amount for every minute they keep you holding on listening to all sorts of messages!  Last time I was on mobile to DFDS it cost a considerable amount.  Now I use the national number which is within my allowance.

    0800 numbers are now free from mobiles, have been so since earlier this year.

    Yes, but I can't go back in and edit my original post, which is why I added another post stating that it was an 0871 number which is charged for on my mobile at 15 per minute.  This is the only one given on the DFDS website, so unless you know the alternative you have no option but to use it.  You can check what it would cost on your own mobile here: real cost of a mobile phone call to 0871 numbers bearing in mind that you can listen to an answerphone for ten or fifteen minutes before anyone actually speaks to you.

    The original question was "has anyone used Tesco vouchers on Dover ferry route". Yes, we have:

    Dover -> Dunkirk, with a Campervan

    No problem booking or using the service.

    On the second topic which has developed, never use 0871, 0845 etc numbers, find the "normal" landline number instead. There is a website dedicated to bypassing these reip-off numbers.

    Thanks to those who have replied but the question was has anyone used Tesco vouchers for a car and caravan on the DFDS Dover routes. It seems, at the moment, that's a no so will contact DFDS to see what they say.

    E-mailed DFDS and this is the reply;

    Thank you for your email,

    I can confirm it is not possible to travel with a caravan on our Dover-France routes using tesco vouchers.

     I hope this helps you.

    It only helps to confirm that, despite stating that you can use them, actually you can't!
